BIANCA COGGI
Born on June 18, 1978, and always passionate about Art, she graduated in Architecture in 2006. She gained extensive professional experience ranging from construction and interiors to set design and stage design for major events and shows. For example, she worked first as a site draftsperson for the company Condotte SpA, and then as a "fit-out designer" for various temporary exhibition-design firms at the Nuvola di Fuksas in Rome. She oversaw the general setup design for major trade fairs such as the Mercato Mediterraneo and Moto Day at the Fiera di Roma, Cybertech 2017 and Setac 2018 at the Nuvola Congress Center. She produced the coordination drawings for the 2019 Rome Formula E event and for the 2016 Arexpo summer events in Milan (headline guest: "Bocelli e Zanetti Night"). She designed trade-fair stands for major brands such as Hitachi in Montreal in 2018, and Leonardo, among others. She designed the temporary 2019 ice rink in the outdoor spaces of the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, and the fit-out of various convention and event halls, including, for example, the press rooms for the G7 summit in Taormina. She has published a book on the urban history of Colleferro (RM), her hometown, along with several articles in leading architecture trade journals. Since 2022 she has worked in Public Administration as a technical officer. From an artistic standpoint, her passion for art took shape early on within her family: alongside whole days spent in her maternal grandparents' tailoring shop, a formative influence was her father, an eclectic, self-taught artist with a passion for painting, sculpture, music, and poetry. As a teenager she studied the female figure: from Guttuso's women to women in motion "borrowed" from fashion magazines, all the way to the women of Japanese manga. She made sketches of clothes for herself and some accessories. The drawings and paintings from that period show a woman in motion, heavily chiaroscured, with quick, forceful lines and hair that becomes wings. At twenty, as an Architecture student in 1998, she spent most of her free time at the nearby Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna in Rome, where she could spend hours admiring the works of De Chirico, Klimt, and Burri, remaining especially enthralled by the latter. From 1998 until her graduation in 2006, alongside various sketches of women, mannequins, and male faces with pronounced features, she produced canvases (some now lost) in heavily textured, layered oil paint depicting winged women and material abstracts in red, gold, and white. With her degree and increasingly demanding work commitments, she was forced to set painting aside, though she continued visiting exhibitions and remained fascinated by many artists, among them Magritte, in his unusual primitive material style, which she admired in Brussels. Her passion for Art led her, alongside her career, to pursue more serious study and engagement with the medium from 2020 onward. She began painting on large formats, mostly abstract works, experimenting with various techniques and materials, and in 2021 she enrolled at the Accademia di Belle Arti, though she has not yet completed her studies there. From 2020 to the present she has produced numerous large-format canvases, increasingly refining her choice of materials for both paint and supports. Besides being a painter herself, she created a space for artists in Colleferro, her hometown, where they can meet and exhibit their work, founding the association "La Via dell'Arte," of which she is President. In addition to her own "gallery-atelier" in Colleferro and her participation as both painter and exhibition designer in group art shows she has curated herself — the most notable being the one held at the Città dell'Altra Economia in Rome, at the former Mattatoio in the Testaccio district (2025) — she has exhibited in various group shows, including the international group exhibition "Incontri" at the Villa Comunale in Frosinone (2024), at the museum in Boville Ernica (2023), at the Impact Hub space in Rome (2023), the UCAI La Pigna Gallery (2023) in Rome, and the "Espace Art Gallery" in Brussels (2022), among others, with art critics Cinzia Folcarelli and Alfio Borghese in attendance, and her works published in several magazines and catalogues. Currently, four of her works have been chosen to furnish the "Collettivo Gastronomico Testaccio" restaurant in the Città dell'Altra Economia at the former Mattatoio, part of the future Città dell'Arte in Rome. Her works have been selected on several occasions by the FS Group to furnish representation rooms at the 2024 Berlin trade fair and some rooms of the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome in December 2024. Starting in 2024, the first edition of the ongoing two-person exhibition "Il Bianco, il Rosso e il Nero" was conceived and realized with sculptor Elena Sevi, addressing violence against women; it will be repeated in November 2025 at the Torretta Valadier at Ponte Milvio in Rome. One of her works was the only one exhibited in the council chamber at Palazzo Valentini for an event organized by the Rotary Club Antropos against violence against women, held on November 25, 2023, on which occasion she was awarded the Premio alla Cultura (Culture Prize). Her works were exhibited in a solo show at Palazzo Doria Pamphilj in Valmontone from February 3 to 19, 2024, occupying the entire piano nobile in a scenographic installation. Many of her works have been sold through direct sale, and many have been donated.
