My name is Diego Bottazzi, an illustrator and artist living in Brescia. Since I was young I have always been attracted by the great masters of art of the past, fascinated by their stories, their fragilities and their anxieties. More specifically, I have always felt close to the spirit of the Belle Époque. From here, from the study and the incessant rediscovery of the works of an ever-present past, the guiding principle of my work is born: to arouse, through images, any emotion, regardless of its nature. The goal remains the same as the one inherent in the very concept of art: to contribute to the improvement of society. For me, drawing means dealing with distances, weights and measures. It is a truly universal language capable of describing, understanding and reworking the world. My sign is a path, at the end of which I find, revealed, the meaning of my works. During the journey, I study, experiment, renew myself as a person and as an illustrator. I fight with all my strength with the creative instinct that lives within me: it is like controlling a wild beast. To date I have found two visual languages that represent the way I can communicate who I am and convey my emotions: in short, they tell my personality. I call the first style “IMPETUS” (the one I propose to your Gallery), characterized not only by the artistic sense, but by movement, intemperance. The second “CALMA”, my reflective part, ideal for my work as a graphic designer/illustrator.
