FABRIZIO PUCCETTI

My name is Puccetti Fabrizio, I was born in Portoferraio (Elba Island) in 1992. Since I was a child I had a weakness for drawing and I liked to draw. In addition, along the way, I became passionate about History and the world of electricity and hydraulics, not in a practical sense but visually through images, documentaries or observing people at work. This led me, since elementary school, to want to attend a professional institute, to learn a trade and draw even more knowledge. During elementary school another event happened: my parents for Christmas, I don't remember exactly if at 8 or 9 years old, gave me a wooden easel for painting, which I initially used to make drawings with paint, classic night landscapes with the moon, but for a while I let it go, letting myself be carried away by my being simply a child who liked to play, ride a bike and make friends. In middle school I tried a lot, thanks also to the teaching of one of my elementary school teachers, on the study of History, always delving deeper into the topics. After finishing middle school, in 2006, I signed up for a summer school camp of Catholic Action of the Diocese of Massa Marittima Piombino and since I liked it so much, I proposed myself together with other kids like me to be an educator for the school camps for children and teenagers, taking part in Sunday courses and retreats during the year, and then in the summer participate in the camps and this for years. In September 2006 I started school at the Brignetti Institute in Portoferraio, where I studied electrical engineering and practiced at the benches of the laboratory. In the meantime I did some drawings in my diary. For the final exam, in 2011, I brought as my thesis "The second industrial revolution" with the alternating current electric motor as the central theme, an invention that led to the dispute between Ferraris and Tesla. After finishing school, I had various work experiences between electrician companies and campsites or hotels, which allowed me to gain experience until I settled, in 2016, in a company that deals with the installation and repair of pumps, overhaul and replacement of boilers, installation and maintenance of water purification systems, installation and maintenance of air conditioning systems, plus it is an assistance center for various brands. Precisely in that year I dedicated myself, seriously and not as usual occasionally, to drawing and portraits, initially through photos of musicians and singers. A friend of mine told me that to make the leap in quality I had to take some lessons from a painter and recommended Luciano Regoli, a truly renowned, respected and expert painter. I contacted him and after a few weeks I started taking 2-hour drawing lessons after dinner because I was working during the day, doing six lessons in total; then I stopped due to lack of time, but I continued to draw anyway. One thing I learned from him is to do things or portraits live because you portray that expression that is given to you and at the same time an object that you give it a meaning and this led me to often portray things live for paintings. My first approach to paintings was in 2016. My father told me: "If you want to paint you have to use primary colors, because those who know how to paint make their own colors" so I took his words as advice and not as a challenge, because after all Art is discovering and discovering yourself and I took the material. I started painting at the end of May but the first attempt was not successful, because the paint was dripping in some places and I decided to give up. However, I started again in September 2018, making a self-portrait in front of the mirror, always with primary colors and the result was quite satisfactory. To delve deeper into the matter, I asked for advice on the material to use from an Elban painter, who had also passed through Regoli's workshop, Belinda Biancotti, a resourceful, kind and not spiteful woman, who gave me a couple of tips verbally on what to take. From that moment, my journey towards painting began, towards the known and the unknown. At the end of October 2020, I moved to the continent, to Massa Marittima, and I started to attend Gian Paolo Bonesini's gallery, participating in various artistic projects with group exhibitions, and continuing to seek new horizons and experimenting more and more with my style. Since 2024, I have been a member of the Circolo degli Artisti Elbani, Associazione Art@ltro and Associazione Iride di Massa Marittima.
