GIUSEPPE CASTELLANO
Born in 1986 in Borgosesia, Italy. "My works are born from a long journey characterized by a close proximity to the world of art. The study of materials has allowed me to develop new, pure lines, with a predominant return to materiality and simplicity. I seek new stimuli by observing what surrounds me, reworking them into a single subject. I integrate the "form" in relation to the "space". My work is a vision towards the future, which starts from the primordial forms of the past." BLACK?/WHITE?/TURQUOISE?/YELLOW?/PINK? A series of paintings in which they investigate the theme of the loss of perception. Monochrome paintings with raised cement writings aim to alter the perception of what you are looking at. Reality is perceived as strange. The intent of the work is to create a sense of disorientation in the viewer. Is what we observe really what we have learned? Is the color we are observing really the correct one compared to the one written on the canvas? In a world saturated with images and information, many people are losing deep contact with art itself, not only as an aesthetic form, but as an experience that invites us to reflect, to feel, to connect with something bigger. I invite you to confront the idea of absence, of pure form, given by monochrome colors, so that the experience becomes more reflective than immediate. This leads to the traditional "loss of perception", the one that binds us to an immediate and visual understanding. It represents a new form of perception: it forces us to slow down, to observe more deeply, to reflect on our sensory experience in a more subtle and intimate way, understanding that what we are observing is not the color suggested to us by the cement writing on the canvas. “REFLECTIONS” “LOOK AT WHO WILL CHANGE THE FUTURE!” - “GUARDA CHI CAMBIERA’ IL FUTURO!”. This is the phrase laser engraved on emerald green mirrored plexiglass. A conceptual work that invites the public to reflect on different themes. The viewer is reflected in the work, becoming an integral part of the message. I think the future will be changed by a mix of factors: technological innovations, recreated in this case by laser engravings, and by our collective commitment. But in the end, who will change the future? I think it depends on how each of us acts today, because every small choice can contribute to a bigger change. This is what the work wants to express: “WE ARE THE ONES WHO CHANGE THE FUTURE”. WE the generation of change, ME the change of the future.
