MONICA ABBONDANZIA
Interior designer and painter, Monica has nurtured her passion for art since her early youth, more specifically once she received a watercolor palette as a gift from her father. Since then, she has not stopped practicing and expressing her emotions through her color palette. Thanks to her numerous training courses at art schools, and the Istituto Superiore di Arte e Restauro in Rome, Monica has acquired a virtuosity in her practice, which allows her to feel comfortable in the realization of her trompe l'œil portraits and frescoes. From 1999 to 2004, she created numerous frescoes at Palazzo Henrici in Chieti. Equipped with a wide range of colorful shades, Monica's characters emerge from her imagination through her reading and the emotions of the moment. The artist's approach, focused on human representation, aims to reveal the thoughts and feelings that each one holds within themselves, in the common desire to know each other better. To do this, she works her portraits according to the principle of the revealed / hidden to give a new way of perceiving some elements to better hide the others, and which is reflected on the canvas by a subtle composition made of a juxtaposition of parts that are sometimes flat and supported, sometimes only outlined, which highlights with the choice of a narrow perspective. Settled in the Italian province of Lecco in Lombardy, since 2015 Monica has worked hard to promote her work and that of other artists through the collaboration with the Artistic Association Artee20 of Merate. In 2020 she changed region returning to her homeland and embarked on a new artistic path, turning her attention to the research of marine atmospheres, from here all the production of abstract seas that merge with the figures is born. In 2022 she expanded the artistic collaboration with the international gallery Carrè d’Artiste exhibiting permanently in 5 locations; 4 French, three of which with large format and in Sedona Arizona US always with large format. The year 2022 was particularly prolific as regards personal exhibitions, 4 in 6 months from the north to the south of Italy. In 2023 the artistic activity focused on the creation of works for the numerous French galleries. In June 2024 the artist exhibited in a large Personal exhibition consisting of 80 works, at the Provincial Archaeological Museum of Potenza. On December 8th a personal exhibition is scheduled at the Apogeo Culturale, Lega navale di Matera. 2 Artist residencies are scheduled in the Municipalities of Acerenza and Marsico Nuovo.
