ALFREDO COLLEONI

Born in Bergamo in 1963, he lives and works in Curno. In 1987 he graduated in painting at the Brera Academy in Milan, with director Andrea Cascella. Over the years he has taught art subjects in high schools and has led painting courses in primary schools. His strong artisanal ancestry has led him to work on projects in the fields of ceramics, gastronomy and object design. Since 2010 he has run his own carpentry shop. In 1985, while still a student, he discovered engraving in a course held in Brera by Angela Occhipinti and Xiao Chin. Since then he has developed several series of works created with the techniques of engraving and chalcographic printing. The experimental and extemporaneous approach, combined with the desire to convey a sense of transcendence of life, are the two cornerstones on which his artistic poetics moves. The study of age-old traditions and absolute faith in nature combine in his paintings to compose dreamlike scenarios that hark back to archaic eras and extraordinary dimensions. A selection of works created since the 1990s is visible on Alfredo Colleoni's website. Etchings, linocuts and monotypes divided into eight projects and related themes, define the main differences between intaglio and relief engravings.
