SARA CAFARELLI
Sara Cafarelli (aka SACAF), was born in Siena in September 1975 in a family where the language of freedom is spoken through colors, pencils and brushes. An environment where artistic expression is encouraged in all its forms, leaving the reins of imagination completely free. A place where the birth of love for art is inevitable. Sara and her deep passion for art have been life companions since she was a child. The study paths she then chose are in fact a consequence, not logical, but of the heart, of her passion. Sara in fact attended the Liceo Artistico Duccio di Buoninsegna in Siena and, subsequently, the Faculty of Architecture in Florence, a choice based on the desire to deepen her other passion, architecture. Sara's third great passion is undoubtedly her city, Siena. A passion that led her, in 2012, to obtain a license as a Tourist and Museum Guide. These heterogeneous paths of study have given Sara the opportunity to trace her path in life, and in art, following her heart and instinct.
ARTISTIC EXPERIENCES
In 2006, with her first solo exhibition at the Tea Room in Siena, a new and flourishing artistic period began for Sara. In fact, it was precisely there that fate wanted the famous semiologist, Omar Calabrese, to notice her paintings and immediately believe in Sara's talent. Omar was in fact so impressed by her works that he encouraged her with great vigour to send three works to be selected at the MoMA in New York. In the following years, Sara cemented her artistic presence in the territory of Siena and the Province. The big leap, in terms of recognition, occurred in 2013, a key year in Sara's career, as one of her three works, owned by the PS1 MoMA since 2007, was chosen to be exhibited for a week at the MoMA in New York. Having managed to bring her art overseas was certainly a turning point for her career, but even more so it was the realization of a dream as big as the Atlantic itself. To celebrate this milestone Sara decided to inaugurate a new solo exhibition “SoulMESC”, which registered, in just fifteen days, well over 1800 visitors. An unexpected success, but certainly deserved for this Tuscan artist. As often happens in the life of painters, and artists, in general, after every success or milestone achieved, the artist is taken by the so-called Wanderlust, or a strong need to travel, see new things and go beyond one’s own borders, not only geographical, but also cultural, intellectual, emotional and existential. This was also the case for Sara, who in the summer of 2014 left for Northern Spain, on the Camino de Santiago de Compostela. A journey made of sea, wind and introspection, lasting more than a month at the end of which the kilometers traveled were more than 860. This journey that started in Irùn and ended in Finisterre, was for Sara a moment of growth on both a personal and artistic level in many ways. In fact, shortly after this extraordinary experience, Sara, once she returned to Siena, was ready for another private exhibition, this time dedicated entirely to the Camino de Santiago and which Sara decided to title "Ultreya y Suseya", an expression used among pilgrims as a form of encouragement and which means "Let's move forward and go higher". The works exhibited here perfectly translate Sara's artistic evolution after the Camino. In the following two years Sara's artistic style continued to change, evolving both in the shapes and colors present in her works, to such an extent that in 2016 she decided to inaugurate a new period, entitled "ReflectionTOUR". A pictorial journey that Sara has had inside her since she was little, when she got lost in the reflections, especially of the rain and mirrors, where each work is charged with the energy that comes from the reverberation of the lights to bring the emotion, distortion, warmth and color of life onto the canvas. The tour begins in Florence and ends in February 2020 in Amsterdam, passing through numerous Italian and foreign cities such as Siena, Turin, Milan, Bologna, Naples, Rome, Aalst, Monaco, Krakow, Miami, Innsbruck, Marbella and Cannes. Another highlight for Sara's artistic career occurred in October 2019, when she was invited to exhibit at the Salon International d’Art Contemporain at the Louvre Museum in Paris, an occasion that gave her the opportunity to fulfill another great dream, that of bringing her art to France for the first time. Sara is currently working on her new artistic period entitled “PHI”, which takes inspiration from the golden ratio and the mathematical concept developed by Fibonacci. The works born during this period have already toured the world, touching cities such as Rome, Antibes, Cannes, Madrid, Los Angeles, Innsbruck, London and more. Sara has in fact had the opportunity to participate in the ART EXPO in Dubai and in 2022 in the Barcelona Biennial held at the prestigious MEAM (European Museum of Contemporary Art).
