EVA TRENTIN

Eva Trentin is an interdisciplinary artist who turns places, emotions, and stories into visual narratives through poetic works and artifacts. Her practice grows out of an attentiveness to the beauty of small things, from biophilia — the innate bond between humans and nature — and from a desire to make emotion tangible, forging deep connections between art and the natural world. After completing her studies in 2000, she worked alongside professionals in design, construction, and art, developing an interdisciplinary approach that weaves together aesthetics, technique, and sustainability. Her research centers on natural materials and organic processes, exploring techniques such as botanical printing, natural extracts, and cyanotype. Her more recent work explores nature's fleeting beauty, turning it into ever-evolving artistic expressions. Using pigments drawn from algae, moss, leaves, and plant matter, alongside earth, brackish water, salt crystallization, and photosensitive colors, Eva creates compositions that respond to the elements, making each piece a living, shifting presence. Every work reflects the fragility and resilience of ecosystems, inviting reflection on the relationship between humans and the environment. Fallen leaves, withered flowers, and forgotten roots are gathered and reshaped into new material landscapes. This process becomes an act of care and attentive listening — a celebration of nature's transience and inherent beauty. Sustainability runs through every part of her practice, with each material chosen with ecological balance in mind. With her series I Giardini di Eva, the artist continues this inquiry, weaving together art and science to explore the transformations of matter. In constant dialogue with their environment, the works evolve over time through chemical and biological reactions, mirroring the ongoing reconfiguration of the nature that surrounds them.

NATURE AS A FORM OF INSPIRATION

Nature takes center stage in her creations: flowers, leaves, and organic materials are cooked, dried, ground, and worked using experimental techniques to produce one-of-a-kind artworks, textiles, and objects. Eva works with local materials and natural motifs and textures, drawing on biophilia as a guiding design philosophy. Her work falls within the current of biophilic art, exploring the transformative potential of organic materials and their sensory and emotional impact on the spaces we inhabit.

EVE'S GARDENS

The series is made up of modular tiles that can be arranged on a wall, on the floor, or mounted onto structures, adapting to different exhibition spaces. Each piece invites the viewer into a slow, mindful way of looking, in step with the philosophy of Slow Art. The natural colors used aren't single-note: each shade holds a multiplicity of tones that, interacting with one another, create balance, depth, and visual vibration.

TECHNIQUES AND EXPERIMENTATION

Eva Trentin blends artistic research with scientific experimentation in an eco-conscious creative process. Among the most defining techniques in her practice: - Botanical printing and cyanotype - Natural pigments - Ever-evolving salt crystallization - Photosensitive colors that react to light and the elements Eva Trentin is an artist who turns places, stories, and emotions into visual narratives through the poetic power of nature.
