GAIA CROTTA
Born in 1994 in Castelfranco Veneto, Gaia Crotta has shown a strong interest in art and painting since she was young. After graduating from the "G. de Fabris" Art Institute in Nove, she continued her education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, where she developed her own pictorial language by participating in numerous cultural events and group exhibitions. Among these, the Art Night, the Spazio SV exhibition center and her participation as a performer at the 56th Biennale for the artist Maria Eichhorn stand out. Over the years, her art has extended beyond the confines of the Venetian lagoon, including significant exhibitions such as the group exhibition in the prestigious Sale del Bramante in Rome. In 2018, she held her first solo exhibition at the Teatro Accademico in Castelfranco Veneto, achieving great success and paving the way for subsequent exhibitions, including the one at Casa Robegan in Treviso. Her work is deeply emotional: her female portraiture and numerous self-portraits shy away from traditional realism to focus on moods and internal contrasts. In her artistic research, the subject becomes secondary to the representation: what matters is not the "who" but the "how". Through her gaze, female figures take on a veiled sense of restlessness, of renewed strength and a suspended tension. It is precisely through the eyes of her subjects that a complex, restless state of mind emerges. Like the pages of a diary, work and artist are linked together through the vibrant and intimate correlation between interior and exterior. Gaia has always been fascinated by the communicative power of the sign gesture, an integral part of her works that often give space to the line, and for this reason she is strongly inspired by the tormented expressiveness of Egon Schiele, the dark dynamism of Die Brucke and the scathing sensuality of Milo Manara. In addition to the artistic field, Gaia stands out for her technical background in the footwear sector, gained at the Polytechnic Calzaturiero of Stra. Here she excels in manual skills, which lead her to be selected among the 25 young Italian talents for the project "A school, a job. Paths of excellence" promoted by the Cologni Foundation of the Arts and Crafts. In recent years she has participated in exhibitions and fairs such as: Arte Padova, fair, Padua (2024), Una Finestra Sul Mondo, exhibition at Villa Marini Rubelli, San Zenone degli Ezzelini (2024), Su Arte, exhibition at Casa Robegan, Treviso (2020), Babele 66° Esposizione del Miniquadro, exhibition at Spazio SV, Venice (2019), Art Night, exhibition, Venice (2019), Self-portrait as a snapshot of the soul, solo exhibition at the Teatro Accademico, Castelfranco Veneto (2018). She currently lives and works in the province of Treviso.
